Residents of the Eastern region’s Akyemansa district, Akyem Abenase, have hailed their assembly member, Hon. Evans Darkwah, also known as Baba Jamal, for saving their lives from reckless cars and motorbikes in the community.
According to them, Hon. Evans Darkwah has bought anchor ropes and positioned them across the major road in an effort to reduce speeding and pedestrian knockdowns.
In an interview with Ahenkan News on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, they admitted that since the MP, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, advocated for the road from Akyem Ofoase to Akyem Oda to be asphalted, cars with high speeds have killed about five people in Akyem Abenase alone because there are no speed ramps.
The Assembly Member for Abenase Electoral Area, Hon. Evans Darkwah, said that this temporary measure is part of strategies being put in place to ensure the lives of the residents in Abenase are safe, while construction of appropriate speed rumps take place.
He verified that speedy vehicles have knocked down 4 people, 3 adults, 1 child, and uncountable goats, dogs, hens, etc. following the construction of the road.
