Oda Senior High School (ODASCO) has celebrated its 64th anniversary with a Speech and Prize Giving Day at Akyem Oda.
The celebration was themed: “Opportunities and Risks of ICT: The Role of Education Stakeholders in Creating and Shaping Positive Digital Experiences for Students.”
Organized by the 1999 Year Group of the ODASCO Old Students Association (Nananom) to mark their 25th anniversary since leaving school, the event attracted numerous attendees, including representatives of various year groups led by their national president, Baffour Yaw Anane Asare, traditional leaders, invited guests, and the school’s staff and students.
Among the distinguished personalities present were the Director General of the Cyber Security Authority, Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, an alumnus and member of the 1997 Year Group, who served as the Guest Speaker; the CEO of 3 Media Network, Rashidatu Yasmine Abdulai, who chaired the event; and the Omanhene of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, Oseadieyo Dr. Frimpong Manso IV, who was the Guest of Honour.
Other notable attendees included the Deputy Eastern Regional Director of Education, Benjamin Nai, and the MP for Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah.
The day was filled with fanfare as alumni, donning outfits in the school’s green and yellow colors, reminisced about their school days and celebrated together.
Activities
The anniversary featured several activities led by the alumni. These included mentoring and motivating current students, and the 1999 Year Group handed over legacy projects to the school, including water storage tanks to complement those provided last year when the school received a borehole from a philanthropist. The 1998 Year Group also began the second phase of their refurbishment project on the assembly hall.
During the Speech Day, the school’s cadet corps put on a display and held a parade in honor of Dr. Antwi-Boasiako, who inspected the parade.

Awards
Numerous awards, including cash prizes, certificates, and books, were presented to deserving members of staff (both teaching and non-teaching) and students. Nananom also honoured Dr. Antwi-Boasiako and MP Alexander Akwasi Acquah for their contributions to the school’s development.
Support
In his keynote address, Dr. Antwi-Boasiako advised students to be mindful of their online posts, noting that once posts are on the internet, they become permanent and could potentially harm them in the future.
The headmaster of Oda SHS appealed for urgent support to fix the boys’ toilet, which is in poor condition, and to build a new library since the old one was converted into a girls’ dormitory following damage to the dormitory two years ago.
In response, MP Acquah promised to complete the refurbishment of the girls’ dormitory block to ease the pressure and potentially revert the building back to its original use as a library.
