Isaac Dogboe Suffers Defeat In Final Eliminator Against Nick Ball

Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogboe’s attempt to get a shot at the WBC featherweight title suffered a hit following his defeat to Nick Ball in the final eliminator in Manchester.

Dogboe suffered a unanimous defeat after all three judges scored in favour of Ball 116-111, 118-109, and 119-108.

The Ghanaian fight was eying an opportunity to fight Rey Vargas, who currently holds the title, and he is yet to defend the belt since his victory over Mark Magsayo in July 2022.

This means Ball stands the chance of facing Vargas while Dogboe, who has now lost four fights, seeks to find his way back to fighting the best in his division.

“I’m feeling good, it was a good performance from myself. I had to keep my cool in there and control the fight,” Ball said after the fight, as quoted by Bad Left Hook. “I feel like I’ve just controlled that fight at world level. I’ve just put myself in position (to fight for a world title).”

Ball dominated the fight from the start despite some moments of strength and sharpness from Dogboe.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogboe has fired back at critics claiming his career will be short-lived due to his height disadvantage.

Dogboe lost to Robeisy Ramirez last month in his bid to win world title.

In the last five years, the 1.57m boxer has lost three times to fighters with better height advantage. He lost in back-to-back fights against Emmanuel Navarrete in WBO Junior Lightweight division before a defeat to Ramirez in the the WBO Featherweight title.
