Prior to the 2024 election, the Electoral Commission (EC) has rejected predictions that 25 new constituencies will be established.
This comes after rumors that the Commission has started the process of creating 25 new constituencies.
The Commission in a release dated October 31, and signed by the Acting Head of Public Affairs, Micheal Boadu indicated that it is only creating one constituency thus the Guan constituency.
They, therefore, urged that the general public disregard this statement of the creation of the 25 new constituencies.

“The Commission wishes to state for the information of the General Public that it is only creating One Constituency, which is the Guan Constituency in the Oti Region.
“The Commission has not taken any decision on creating constituencies beyond that of the Guan,” the statement clarified.
