Boadu’s Dream Debut Sparks Ahenkan FA to Dominant Victory Over Kotoku Rush

Building on the momentum of a hard-fought stalemate away at Abomosu, Ahenkan Football Academy turned their home ground into a fortress on Match Day 10 of the Eastern Regional Football Association Division 2 League, dismantling Kotoku Rush SC 2-0.

It was a day of drama, resilience, and a dream debut at the Ahenkan Football Academy home ground on Match Day 10.

The match began at a blistering pace, with Ahenkan FA dominating possession from the first whistle. However, the game plan was thrown into disarray in the first half when key player Nicholas Nartey sustained an injury and was forced to limp off the pitch.

In what turned out to be the turning point of the match, Coach Nketiah turned to his bench and introduced Ruben Boadu.

The Dream Debut

Boadu’s introduction was a long time coming. The striker, Ahenkan FA’s top scorer in the lower division, had missed almost the entire first part of the season due to registration eligibility issues. Having finally been cleared in the second registration window, he started the game on the bench.

Thrust into action earlier than expected, Boadu didn’t just fill a gap—he transformed the game. His energy and attacking prowess earned him the Man of the Match (MOTM) award in his first appearance of the season, a remarkable feat for a substitute.

“I was frustrated having to watch my teammates from the sidelines,” Boadu admitted in his post-match interview, referring to his long registration wait. “But I am happy to be back. I promise the Ahenkan FA family that I will do what I do best and help the team reach the top of the standings.”

Confidence is clearly high for the returning striker; Boadu boldly promised the fans he intends to win the MOTM award in his next four subsequent games.

Despite the forced substitution, Ahenkan FA maintained their rhythm, creating multiple chances but converting only two. Head Coach Dominic Nketiah praised the squad’s adaptability.

                  Assistant line 1 in action

“We needed consistency, so this win was a plan well executed and a morale booster for my boys,” Nketiah said. He noted, however, that the score line could have been higher. “We are still working on our decision-making in the final third, but I applaud the team for their inevitable match-winning mentality.”

Kotoku Rush SC Coach, Clement Boateng, was gracious in defeat, admitting that Ahenkan FA showed superior resilience and fight, particularly after the substitution.

This victory marks a significant turning point for Ahenkan FA. After breaking their “away curse” with a goalless draw at Abomosu last weekend, the team has now found winning form at home.

With 10 points separating them from the league leaders and over 11 games left to play, the Division One League spot is not out of reach if they can maintain this performance level.

Ahenkan FA will look to wrap up the first round in style  next weekend when they travel to Vidako for Match Day 11.
