Akyem Swedru: Thousands Walk With Kennedy Osei Nyarko Claiming “Adwumawura Toaso”

On November 5th, 2023, for over 16 kilometers, thousands of NPP faithful and constituents of Akyem Swedru joyful participants in the “Adwumawura Toaso Health Walk”, sang and danced as they showed their support and admiration for their incumbent Member of Parliament, Honourable Kennedy Osei Nyarko.

The massive crowd will contribute to the re-election bid of Honourable Kennedy in the forthcoming NPP parliamentary primaries on February 24, 2024, and the general election.

Having served three terms as a member of parliament, the MP has led the NPP in the constituency for the past 12 years now.

Those who participated in the exercise and showed up in large numbers said that they did so because of Mr. Kennedy’s dedication to the growth of the party and the constituency.

The massive health walk was also attended by a handful of members of the NPP legislators, MMDCs, and regional and constituency executives from both inside and beyond the region.

Among these legislators are: Alexander Akwasi Acquah, the member of parliament for Akim Oda; George Kwame Aboagye, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asene Akroso-Manso; Alexander Agyare, the member of parliament for the Kade; Hon. John Osei Frimpong, the Member of Parliament MP for Abirem; Davis Ansah Opoku, a member of parliament for Mpraeso and Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Achiase.

Some MMDCs, Eastern Regional NPP Executives, and constituency executives namely, Mr. Asare Danso, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Birim South District Assembly; Mr. Frank Appiah, the NPP Second Vice Chairman; Mr. Anthony Adjei, the Regional Secretary of the party; Mr. Jerry Osei Poku, the regional organizer of the party; Mr. Baba Fadilu Fafana, the regional coordinator; Mr. Dominic Fobi, the constituency chairman of Akim Swedru; and others also participated in the exercise.

Addressing the media, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akyem Swedru constituency and Chairman of the Eastern Regional NPP MPs caucus, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, explained that the walk was aimed at keeping the constituents and the party members fit ahead of the 2024 general election, a campaign strategy to energize, engage, and interact.

The MP expressed gratitude to all of the attendees for their overwhelming support.

In order for the NPP to retain its seat, he also urged the delegates in his constituency to re-elect him again in the next primary as their parliamentary candidate.

He says that the other competitors are no match for him and that none of them can advocate for the significant improvements he has in store for the constituency.

An MP, he says, is a difficult role that requires someone with expertise who can advocate for the growth of their constituency.

Therefore, since he has served three terms in parliament and has a wealth of knowledge, they shouldn’t allow any candidate beguile to attempt unseating him.

In terms of the parliamentary primaries and the general elections, he is optimistic that the delegates and the constituency won’t let him down.

In order to win the 2024 election, Honourable Osei Nyarko appealed to the party members and other unsuccessful flagbearer candidates in the just-ended presidential primaries to set aside their disagreements and move forward as a united front.

He urged members of the NPP party to band together in order to fulfill the goal of “breaking the eight-year jinx,” noting that this goal necessitates the involvement of each candidate and their backers.

In an effort to improve living conditions in Ghana, he consequently pleaded with the constituents to support the NPP administration.

“It is extremely significant because the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), does not stand the chance of whisking power from the NPP in the 2024 elections,” Mr. Kennedy Osei said in response to a question about how significant it has been for the NPP to elect Dr. Bawumia as their flagbearer.

“Breaking the Eight is inevitable because Dr. Bawumia, our esteemed leader, is a highly skilled and diligent individual with a brilliant vision for our magnificent country,” he added

Enrolling in the health walk, MPs and party executives were equally astounded by the thousands of people who had gathered at that very venue to show support for the chairperson of the parliament’s Roads and Transport Committee.

Additionally, they pledged to team up with every party member in each of their various constituencies in order to prevent the opposition NDC from regaining power.
