2024 Elections: CPP To Elect Flagbearer By August

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has announced its aim to elect a flagbearer by August 2024, just six months before the 2024 general elections.

Last week, the acting communication director of the party, Sylvester Sarpong-Suprano, indicated in an interview that the party may not be fielding any presidential candidates for the upcoming elections.

Addressing the media at the party’s headquarters, the Deputy General Secretary of the Independent Committee (IC) of the CPP, Mrs. Joyce Larbi, vehemently debunked the earlier report, indicating that the CPP is better placed to partake in the general elections.

According to her, despite the delay, the party has reaffirmed its commitment to presenting a flagbearer in the upcoming polls.

Mrs. Joyce Larbi stated that the party has commenced meetings with its regional executives to audit the constituency album to help them elect their flagbearer.

She observed that “the CPP is a party that founded Ghana; hence, it will not be right that it does not take part in the December 7 elections.”

She further espoused the view that “the constitution of the Independent Committee is to ensure a candidate is produced for the party, and we are on course.”.
