The newly enstooled chief of Akyem Bontodiase in the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area of the Eastern Region, Nana Obeng Akari Asiedu II, has humbly begged the government to expeditiously complete their abandoned Community-based Health Planning and Services(CHPS) Compound to guarantee timely and effective health care delivery in the area.
He says that they have been paying a lot of money to rent an apartment for health service operations throughout the years.
Although the community elders have been able to construct a CHPS compound, Nana Obeng Akari Asiedu II stated that they still need government support to complete the project.
He declared that his people were prepared to provide labour collectively to complete the CHPS Compound.
Nana Obeng Akari Asiedu II made the call in an interview with the Daily Searchlight after his outdooring as the new chief by the Royal family and people of Akyem Bontodiase.
Therefore, in order to enable high-quality and conveniently accessible healthcare for his people, he has promised to provide hospital beds and other medical equipment to the facility after it is completed.
He has also promised his people that he will ensure that their community market is renovated and in a suitable state for easy commerce.
He also requested assistance from their MP and DCE to construct their internal roads.
Additionally, he has advised the community’s “Okada” riders to ride cautiously to steer clear of avoidable accidents.
The chiefs also promised to foster education by providing scholarships to community students.
Since education is the cornerstone of social development, he advised the students to take education more seriously in order to ensure a better future for themselves.
Nana Obeng Akari Asiedu II has taken an oath of allegiance before the occupant of the Royal Stool, the Ekona family, and the community at large.
His enstoolment followed the destoolment of Obrempong Adakwah Gyamenah II for his alleged behavior, which was widely seen as neglect towards the stool and the people of his community.
At the open-air gathering held at the Akyem Bontodiase on June 21, 2024, Nana Obeng Akari Asiedu II was officially inaugurated as the community’s new chief by the Ekona royal family.
As per custom, the new chief was counseled by members of the royal family as well as other attending chiefs.
They implored him to uphold the Great Oath, demonstrate loyalty in his leadership, and advocate for communal development.
In addition, he was counseled against becoming conceited and tasked with preventing him from committing the same transgressions as his immediate forerunner.
The Queen-mother of Akyem Bontodiase, Nana Akua Agyeiwaa, expressed her faith in Nana Obeng Akari Asiedu II, acknowledging his background and expertise and directing him to leverage his knowledge to develop the community.
