The member of parliament for the Akim Oda constituency in Ghana’s 8th parliament under the Fourth Republic, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has been appointed as the Deputy Minister for Health.
His appointment comes in the latest reshuffle by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The Chief Executive Officer of Community Hospital (CEO) and businessman has also, in the past, worked with the National Health Insurance Scheme as its Public Relations Officer.
He entered Parliament in 2020 and will be contesting the 2024 parliamentary elections.
In the 2020 parliamentary election, he defeated his opponents and won the seat as the 5th MP for the constituency with a majority of 25,380 votes out of the 31,943 total votes cast (which represents 79.45%).
Since entering Parliament, he has been instrumental on the Health Committee of Parliament.
He is also the Trade and Industry Committee’s Vice Chairperson and a member of the Government Assurance Committee.
