Bats Causing Power Outages In Dormaa Ahenkro And Its Environs – VRA Director

A string of power outages (Dumsor) that have lately struck Dormaa Ahenkro in the Bono Region and its surroundings have had a detrimental impact on local businesses and production.

The oscillations during the last two (2) days were caused by a problem that arose at the Nkrankwanta power station, which eventually affected Dormaa Ahenkro and other adjacent communities, according to Mr. John Anim, the Dormaa Municipal Director of the Volta River Authority/NEDCo.

He said that the cause of the two-day power outage at Nkrankwata station was a bat that spanned the yellow phase and the cross-arm on a metal pole leading to the grounds with light showers. Dormaa staff discovered the bat today, Monday, November 13, 2023, at approximately 6:14 am.

He reported that a bat that spanned the yellow phase and the cross-arm on a metal pole leading to the grounds with tiny showers was the cause of the power outage that had been occurring at Nkrankwata station for the last two days.

Some residents who rely on energy for their everyday activities and enterprises expressed their displeasure to the Volta River Authority.

Since the area’s lighting issues have grown to be a canker that keeps undermining local businesses, they have called on the relevant leaders to address the issue.
