The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, Mrs. Jean Mensa, announced in April 2023 that the District Assembly Elections will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, across the country.

Mrs. Jean Mensa indicated that the 2023 District Level Elections (DLE) will take place in all 6,272 electoral areas in all districts, with the exception of Nkoranza North and South in the Bono East Region.

As a result, Ahenkan News has begun interviewing voters in various electoral areas to ascertain their positions and motivations.

On Monday, November 13, 2023, Ahenkan news reporters Nana Yaa Kumiwaa Anokente and Nana Akua Adepa conducted interviews with the people living in the Akyem Essam Electoral Area to find out who they would support in the next District Assembly Elections.

The aspirants are Charles Awuku Acquah, Mad. Gifty Asiedu, and Hayford Yeboah, excluding the current Assemblywoman, Hon. Christiana Nyamekye.

The majority of respondents, 72.8%, said they would vote for Charles Awuku. 9.09% declared support for Mad. Gifty Asiedu, and 18.18% went for Hayford Yeboah.
