Hon. Daniel Kweku Botwe, the Minister of Local Government and Decentralization and the MP for Okere Constituency has urged voters to make sure they cast their ballots for candidates who can effectively represent them in the District Assembly and participate in decision-making.
In the words of the Minister, politics and democracy originate in the electoral areas; therefore, it is crucial that the individuals we elect to serve as Assembly Members and Unit Committee members should be capable of advancing development in your electoral region.
Thus, he urged Assembly members to interact with the community both prior to and following assembly sessions.
He thinks this will help the populace feel involved in the political process.
He said this at the Awutu Senya East Municipality’s sod-cutting event to mark the start of the construction of Kasoa Ofaakor-Jei River Road.
The initiative is part of the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program of the World Bank.
