In an interview with Ahenkan FM, Rahim stated that the Church has agreed to the demolition of its fence wall and is awaiting the Highways Engineer’s input, contrary to claims made by the NDC’s Constituency Chairman for Akim Swedru, Daniel Mintah Amoah.

“It is entirely untrue that the Methodist Church is not cooperating with the government,” Rahim emphasised.

“Together with the Highways Engineer and other stakeholders, we agreed on the demolition of their fence wall. Therefore, it is simply not true that the Methodist Church is hindering the construction of the road,” he added.

The DCE’s comments come in response to accusations by the NDC Chairman that the Church is deliberately blocking the road’s construction by refusing to allow its fence wall to be demolished.

Very Rev. William Alfred Nyamekeh, Superintendent Minister of Akim Swedru Circuit and the Minister in Charge of Wesley Church, disclosed that they were ever ready for the demolition of their fence wall as they would also benefit from the road when constructed.

“How can the Methodist Church obstruct the road from Apoli to Aduasa, and also from Aduasa to the District Assembly?” he asked rhetorically. “The Church should not be involved in their politics, as we respect our people, hence building good schools and health facilities across the country,” he stressed.
