Speaking to Ahenkan FM at the Birim Central Municipal Sanitation Awards’ Night, Kusi praised the community’s efforts, saying, “Our cleanup exercises have instilled a sense of responsibility in our people.”
The ceremony recognised individuals and groups promoting sanitation awareness and community involvement, underscoring the municipality’s commitment to improving public health through regular cleanup initiatives.
Kusi explained, “The reason for awarding my fellow brethren is to acknowledge those who wholeheartedly participated in the 13 organised cleanup exercises since my appointment to office. It shall be an annual thing, and everyone must be inclusive, though not primarily because of the awards attached.”
He emphasised, “The exercises have yielded results by bringing some sense of responsibility to all.”
A broadcast journalist with Akim Oda-based Ofie FM, Obidombie Nana Acquah Kumi, who was crowned the overall best award recipient, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the organisers of the award scheme.

He revealed that his motivations had been from communal labours he had done during his over twenty years’ stay in his community.
“I call on my colleague journalists to include themselves in such an exercise to make our municipality great and sanitation,” he added.
