Prosper Narteh Ogum, the head coach of Asante Kotoko, has disclosed that certain players at the team are unwilling to compete for their position.
The manager claims that in order to compete for spots, the team’s more seasoned players have turned to their peers in the media.
Experienced players such as Steven Mukwala, Eric Zeus and George’s Mfegue have all suffered the ruthlessness of Ogum at some point so far this season as they have been left on the bench.
And while some fans have questioned some of the decisions, the coach has justified why he has preferred some of the youngsters to ‘politicians.’

“Most of the senior players are not putting in much effort at training, and that’s the reason I start the young guys who were originally not supposed to start,” he said at a presser earlier on Wednesday, November 8.
“Some have turned to politicians, and they always want to get playing time by going through their friends who are journalists. But that won’t work. If you are good, prove it at the training ground for everyone to see.”
Kotoko are yet to win any of their last four games in the league and their latest defeat against Dreams FC saw the fans boo them off at the Baba Yara Stadium at the end of the game.
