Odi Ahenkan Fires Captain Smart Over Allegedly Inciting Obuasi Youth To Attack AGA

A prominent Ghanaian media personality, Odi Ahenkan Kwame Yeboah has strongly condemned Blessed Godsbrain Smart, another well-known media figure, for allegedly inciting the youth of Obuasi to attack Anglo Gold Ashanti (AGA), a major mining company operating in the area.

According to reports, the morning show host of Accra-based Onua TV/ FM, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, widely known as Captain Smart had made some inflammatory comments on live show, which some interpreted as a call to action for the youth to take matters into their own hands and attack the mining company.

The comments were allegedly made in response to concerns about the company’s operations and its impact on the local community.

Odi Ahenkan, who was reacting to the development on Peace FM’s drive show, described Captain Smart’s comments as “irresponsible” and “inciteful.” He warned that such comments could have serious consequences, including the loss of lives and property.

“I am shocked and disappointed by Captain Smart’s comments,” Odi Ahenkan said. “As a media personality, he has a responsibility to promote peace and understanding, not to incite violence and chaos.”

Odi Ahenkan also called on the authorities to take action against Captain Smart, saying that his comments constituted a threat to national security. He also urged the youth of Obuasi to remain calm and not to take the law into their own hands.

“The youth of Obuasi have every right to express their grievances and concerns, but they must do so peacefully and within the bounds of the law,” Odi Ahenkan said.

The development has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for Captain Smart to be held accountable for his comments.

The incident has also highlighted the need for media personalities to be responsible and mindful of the impact of their words on society.
